The wheels don't caster once there is weight on them, so moving the table saw, drill press or shaper takes the aid of a dolly. I could go on and on. But the worst of it is that they simply don't roll. I have three Grizzly products and love all of them, and all have mobile bases. Buy Grizzly products, but skip the mobile bases, whatever you do. Assembling them is a full catastrophe. But these "mobile" bases are the worst in the industry. The holes don't line up and the threads strip and there are far too many bolts.
I norder to change direction, I have to turn the wheels to unlcok them and point to the direction of turn. The unit is capable of sustaining the weight without any problem but it's not capable of turning as advertises. Don't buy this item if you plan to move your equipment around the shop. If I could, I would ship them back and build my own. When you push the unit left or the right, the wheels bind and does not allow you to move the unit. The turning wheels bind against the frame when you try to turn left or right causing the unit to freeze in place.
Grizzly ought to be embarrassed selling these things to the public. Also read my review for the Shop Fox Super-Duty model that I tried will distressing results.This Shop Fox Mini Mobile Base could not hold my Drill Press level without shims. How poor. Until you have had an HTC, you will never know.
Yes, I've had some of the tapped holes strip on me during assembly, but there are enough pre-drilled holes in these bases that you can just use an alternate one. A visit to Lowes or Home Depot and 20 cents will solve the problem. I own 6 of this bases, from the mini to the super heavy duty, and once assembled they are rock solid. Also, I've always been shorted either a nut or bolt or have had nuts with bad threads in all bases. Don't let that stop you from purchasing one of these bases however quality control does give this only a four star rating Compared to other bases, these could probably support 1.5x their advertised weight limit and they move my heaviest machines easily. Problem does exist still in assembly and quality control.
The problem is that the bars are to small to fit snuggly into the bar stubs for the wheels, even if this thing had been the right size it was a bad design. The base consists of eight pieces, four corners with wheels, and four bars that go between the wheels. Look for something else. I bought this item for my Grizzly 14'' bandsaw becasue it was listed with the acessories. It is to small, my fault for not double checking.
